What is your body's largest organ? Hint - It plays a large role in detoxification & elimination of harmful toxins. It is one of the first to shows signs of deficiencies & imbalances. You guessed it - your SKIN (also known as the Integumentary System). Our Skin protects our internal tissues and organs. So why do we continue to neglect & abuse this wonderful organ? We need to embrace & nourish the skin we are in. There is one underestimated therapy in particular that I would like to talk about. Dry Brushing. To some this may be old or new news, some may be like "preach it girl!" & others may think it's some hippie-dippie hoax.

Dry Brushing has been used in many cultures for many centuries as part of a health regime. It has many internal & external benefits. Our Lymphatic Systems often get neglected. It has multiple responsibilities in our bodies. It aids in detoxification to remove toxins, it absorbs & transports fatty acids from our digestive system, it transports white blood cells to & from the lymph nodes into the bones.

How To:

Begin with dry skin, preferably before your bath or shower. Always begin at your hands & feet and work your way towards your heart - working in gentle circular motions & gradually longer, smoother strokes. This doesn't apply to your neck & back - instead brush from the neck down to the lower back.

To emphasize it's invigorating effects - proceed with a alternating temperature shower form hot to cold to really stimulate your Lymphatic system.

After finishing your shower, nourish your skin with your favourite non-toxic & clean ingredient moisturizer or skin oil.

Current fav combo - my homemade whipped moisturizer (blog post coming soon) +  a few drops of Young Living Stress Away Essential Oil.

Self care is so important to practice daily. This is a perfect addition to your routine. #selfcaresunday
