My hummus recipe has a little twist to it. I’ve replaced Tahini with one of my top fav super foods - HEMP HEARTS. I replaced the tahini (made from sesame seeds) because of a sesame seed food sensitivity PLUS I’m all about adding more nutrients to any meal. Sesame Seeds are a common food allergen so if you or someone you know has one this is a MUST TRY recipe. I used to buy pre-made hummus all the time out of convenience. When I discovered that Sesame Seeds were causing inflammation in my body I had to avoid them in my diet. I love homemade hummus but store bought was just easy. When I first started making my homemade hummus without the tahini, it just wasn’t the same, something was missing. I went to the creative drawing board & began experimenting. I then had a light bulb moment - why don’t I soak hemp hearts to make a similar paste like tahini?! GAME CHANGER. It was a definite success! It gave that nutty, seedy element I was missing.
