Blissful Beet Root Latte

bliss·ful // extremely happy + full of joy + providing happiness or great joy

Sipping on my Beet Root Latte is essentially pure bliss. It's delicious, bright & filling. I know I eat with my eyes first, so when I create a tasty beverage that it is a vibrant colour - I start to salivate. Best part? It's bountiful health benefits. #winning

Oddly enough, I am not a huge beet fan. I don't mind it grated in a salad or in like a thai salad wrap. It has to be finely grated or it's a no for me. ( Does anyone even watch American Idol anymore? - comment below ) Actually, I do like it juiced but as long as it's not the primary ingredient. So why would I want to make a Beet Root Latte?! Beet Root is obviously the main ingredient but for good reason as it's the star of the show.

Beet Root Powder - it's rich, vibrant colour represents it's high antioxidant properties. Plus it's loaded with fibre & minerals + vitamins. Ladies take note - Iron powerhouse. One thing that often isn't highlighted is the Nitrate compounds. Why is Nitrate important? Cardiovascular Health - your Heart. It aids in lowering blood pressure & improving blood flow. Any strapping young lads? Blood Flow - key to men's health, especially prostrate & reproductive organ functions. Along with improving blood flow, beet root purifies your blood by removing toxins & waste. Your inside health reflects on the outside. If you're after that glowy, radiant skin - introduce more beet root to your diet.

Specializing in Sports Nutrition is a true passion of mine but I also find it difficult to source out clean & natural Sports Nutrition Supplements. It is possible - but slim pickings. INGREDIENTS are so important. First thing I look at when assessing a product. I often see Beet Root Powder in these supplements. I always just assumed that beet root powder was added into these products as a whole food colourant.  WRONG. Well not completely wrong but the main purpose is for that muscle pump at gym - those veins be popping. But yes, beet root has been used for thousands of years as a natural colourant.  I mentioned Nitrogen Compounds above & one of those compounds is called Nitric Acid. It increases the blood flow to your muscles causing that "pump".

Blissful Beet Root Latte

  • 250 ml Hot Water

  • 1 tsp Beet Root Powder

  • 1 tbsp Coconut Manna (or coconut oil)

  • 1 tbsp Ashwagandha (optional)

Coconut Mana -  puréed dried coconut, basically coconut butter --> makes it super creamy + filling to sustain my satiety hormone.

Ashwagandha - powerful, diverse Ayurvedic healing adaptogenic herb with so many health benefits. It is most well-known for it's rejuvenating & restorative benefits. I use it primarily for reducing stress, anxiety & strengthening immunity. I've been focusing on my adrenal health & regulating those sneaky cortisol levels.
